Teacher – Physical Education K-12

Position:              Perrydale is hiring a second PE teacher for the district.  This position is a K-12 Physical Education Teacher, with a primary focus on K-8

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Oregon TSPC License with proper endorsements or ability to obtain prior to position start date.
  • Standards of moral character as required of all Oregon licensed educators (OAR 584-005-0005)

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with

  • Teaching experience and skills for teaching in this position.
  • Coaching experience at various age levels
  • Experience with Adaptive PE; knowledge of strategies and modifications to accommodate students with disabilities or special needs.

Miscellaneous:

  • Candidate may be considered for coaching positions

Summary of Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for student academic achievement, including instruction and discipline, primarily at the elementary level.
  • Provide Health and Physical Education instruction
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students and maintain appropriate records
  • Participate in curriculum and/or faculty committees as interested or required
  • Establishes clear criteria for student success supported through effective instructional strategies, related practice opportunities, and prompt, actionable feedback.

Professional Characteristics:

  • Classroom & Behavior Management – Effective strategies to maintain a safe, respectful, and structured environment in both gym and outdoor settings.
  • Motivation Skills – Ability to inspire students of all ages to be active and develop healthy habits
  • Strong Communication – Clear, effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Adaptability – Flexibility to teach students from a wide range of grade levels and modify lessons as needed
  • Organizational Skills – Ability to plan, execute, and manage multiple activities, including field trips, events, and sports teams.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration – Ability to work with other teachers, administrators, and staff to integrate physical education into the broader school curriculum.

Salary and Benefits:      

  • As per Certified Teachers Salary Schedule FY2025-2026 approx. $46,511.50-88,116.74

  • Perrydale pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
